RICHMOND, VA – A man from New Zealand traveled 8,500 miles to the home of a Virginia teen and was shot in the neck by the teen’s mother while trying to break into the home. The 14-year-old girl met 25-year-old Troy Skinner on Discord three to four months ago but had been trying to cut off communication with him. In response, Skinner took three planes from New Zealand to get to Washington on June 20. He then took a Greyhound bus to Richmond the next day. That afternoon he was knocking on the girl’s front door after first making a stop at Walmart where he purchased a pocket knife, pepper spray, and duct tape. “He was not invited here, he was not expected here, he had been told in the past that the daughter no longer wished to communicate with him,” Goochland Sheriff Jim Agnew said.
